Tachimachi Pictures - Teddy McCormick

This is basically just a photo dump from Tachimachi the other day.

A little bit of preamble: so a couple weeks ago I hiked a new trail on Hakodateyama and came down near this cape called Tachimachi that we'd heard was scenic, so I stopped by it since I was there.

It was fun to get a diferent angle of the city than I was used to.

This is from near the top of the mountain; I had to wade through a really dense amount of tall grass to get here.

It was very nice, so last week, when we were looking for something to do, I suggested to Cassie that we go so she can see it. Well, I was not expecting the weather to be quite so cooperative!

We loved all the god rays and seeing the little patches of rain falling in the distance.

Some of these photos look edited, like I retouched the colors or something, but nope! This is what it actually looked like!

We really liked how the sun shone a bright spotlight on the city, making it stand out from the foreground and the background.

We were wrapping up, getting ready to go, when it started raining a bit on us - not heavy enough to dive for shelter, but heavy enough that we were figuring out where the closest shelter was. (We'd forgotten to bring our umbrellas!) As we were looking around, though, we saw a tiny sliver of a rainbow... that quickly blossomed into a massive, strong arc!

...Into a full, powerful, rainbow! Even a double rainbow!

So after taking all of those pictures, we were winding down again - it was getting later now, and we were getting hungry. But the sun was just starting to set, and it set some of the clouds in a nice light, so we moved to a spot where we thought we'd get a good angle for one last picture... and then the sun kept setting, and it transformed everything enough that we needed a whole new set of pictures!

You can see how a lot of these are just the same views from earlier, but the color palette changing completely changes them!

We left as the sunset was in full swing - I'm sure we confused some of the cars who were clearly rushing there in order to see Tachimachi at sunset, like, "Why are they leaving now when it's at its most beautiful?" We have no doubt that if we'd waited five more minutes the twilight photos would've also been incredible, but then after that the night photos would've been great, and then and then... basically, we knew if we didn't leave then, we were going to have to stay for at least another hour, and we were pretty tired and hungry!
